Neighborhood Birds - there's quite the varied ecosystem out
back...
Costa's
Hummingbird male. This guy was tough to shoot, he bobbed his
head every 1/2 second. I took 10 shots & this was the only one
that came out.
Mom feeding the baby.
First time I'd ever seen this and luckily I was standing there
with the right lens!
Black
Phoebe fledgling and dad flying off.
The neighbors pool tarp
made a great backdrop.
Anna's
Hummingbird, female. This gal is very mellow, lets me get close
and drinks for a loooong time.
Male
Bullocks Oriole.
Even in this poor picture he's striking.

Anna's Hummingbird sippin' and flyin'
Finally
got a decent one of an Anna's Hummingbird without having to set
up a feeder and wait. Kind of "in the wild" of the backyard.
What the heck.
Rufous
Hummingbird, male. This guy is a jerk and very territorial. He's
claimed our feeder as his and is always chasing other birds
away, and bumping chests with other male Rufous.
Scruffy
Costa's male with bib out via the long lens
Black Phoebe chicks in the nest under the eaves. Good thing I
took this, as they fledged the next day. Mom and Pop are still
hanging around though.
Young
Black Phoebe, "What you looking at, cyclops?"

Young
male Sharp-Shinned Hawk downing a rat or mouse. He was two yards
and a street away.
Same
sparrow, still scruffy but with a grub or worm of some sort
in-beak.

One of many "Flight of He Mockingbird" shots I took from the
deck.
Just an acrobatic guy looking for a gal, all day, most
of the night.
