Pine Valley Creek	These pictures are products of three different hikes.	The last hike of 2008 ended up being an inadvertent overnighter. Luckily the illegals left many serapes behind, but it was still a chilly evening.
The track we (and probably hundreds of illegals) took along the creek. This was my second time on the trail, first time I GPS mapped it.	I love the way all the hard rocks took on a blue cast in these three pictures.	Especially this one. Too bad I took it with the little 4MP camera, can't sell it.	Blue rock, cool leaves and a granite backdrop.

Prickly Poppy.	Someone had some fun weaving the dead branches of this bush together, then the regrowth filled in the bottom.	Clutch of caterpillars of some large butterfly.	Trespassing at the Henry Jr. Dam.
View south down Skye Valley Road from near the entrance to Skye Valley Ranch	The famous Pine Valley Creek hairless Yeti.	Alien trash. Like many parts of San Diego County, many back trails are littered with these, backpacks, clothes, tuna cans, tuna cans, tuna cans....	"Horse Pool" in Horsethief Canyon. This was our destination on the end of 2008 season epic, but fell 1/2 mile short of it and had to spend the night.

The yellow highlight shows the route from the Pine Creek Wilderness trailhead to where we had to camp.	Interstate 8 bridge over Pine Valley	Interstate 8 bridge over Pine Valley from just about underneath it.	One of many illegal alien trash dumps. I hate to see the trash, but the blankets they left behind sure made our night out tolerable!
This was the first time I'd seen beavertails with three different colors of blossoms - start pink, turn orange then are finally yellow and totally packed with pollen.	I'm not sure what plant this is, but it certainly made a nice seedy fluffball. Had to hold it to keep from swaying in the breeze.	Hill with a massive amount of blooming beavertail cacti.	Datura, aka Jimsonweed & Loco Weed and wild mustard blossoms.
Finally was able to get a picture of one of the orange dragonflies. I was looking to cross the creek and this one landed right in front of me. Thanks!	The pink and orange phase of the blossoms	The really nice and deep pool five miles into the hike.	Perfectly circular hole dug into a boulder by swirling water. The water was at least three fee below this when we passed, so it must have really gotten some high water in the past.

Doug testing the LifeStraw I gave him. I'd found these online in Wales and received them two days prior to the hike. Little did we know we would have to depend on the devices when we ran out of packed-in water.
We fell about a mile shy of making it to this, the "Horse Pool" and the big easy trail back to the car. It sure looked good after a night, uh, out. Pacific Coast Trail	This was a section of the PCT north of S22

San Mateo Creek	Okay, this one is in Riverside County, but close enough.	The flowers were shot with a macro lens on the big, heavy camera.
